The Archipelago Research Institute

Seili

The Archipelago Research Institute is a special unit under the Centre of Environmental Research of the University of Turku. The Institute participates in multidisciplinary research of the Baltic Sea, with a special focus on the Archipelago Sea.

Additionally, the Institute offers research services and facilities for courses and seminars, mainly for universities. Its own research chiefly comprises projects studying the biological and geological condition of the Archipelago Sea. Most of the research at the Institute is done in co-operation with other departments of the university.

Research results and reports are published in the SEILI Archipelago Research Institute Publications (ISSN 1456-4548) series, as well as in scientific journals. Research projects publish their own unnumbered final reports.

The Research Institute has a research station on the island of Seili in Nauvo and facilities at the University of Turku. The Institute office is located on Seili in the summer season and moves to the university for the winter.
